Bucs Legend Criticises Riveiro, Technical Team
Orlando Pirates legend Benedict Vilakazi is not impressed with the capabilities of current coach, Jose Riveiro, and his technical team.
On Tuesday, 7 November, the Buccaneers lost their Premier Soccer League match-up against Sekhukhune United 1-0; prior to this defeat, they also lost two matches against Richards Bay FC and Cape Town Spurs.
In a recent interview with a local outlet, Vilakazi lambasted Riveiro and his technical team, and called on them to be replaced.
“You can’t struggle to win with such players,” the 41-year-old complained. “I think the management is just scared to say the coach has lost his touch. Sometimes, to use the same approach in every game, there is always going to be a problem as clubs will eventually figure it out. I think that’s what is currently happening at Orlando Pirates; teams always study their opponents.”
He went on: “Pirates’ problem is their technical team as a whole; when Fadlu Davids left, we still kept Mandla Ncikazi as an assistant coach. I don’t understand why, as they both failed.”
Orlando Pirates will be facing old foes Kaizer Chiefs this Saturday, 11 November at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
